October marks the Transport Month Awareness in South Africa, a time dedicated to celebrating the vital role that transport plays in connecting people, powering the economy and driving progress. Moreover, as Executive Norah explained, “It is a time where we go back and revisit our research in safety measures and safety standards, because our intention is to ensure that our buses are well taken care of. This year’s celebration truly stood out. Buscor hosted a special Buscor Transport Month celebration Mpumalanga Bus Ride and proudly introduced the new electric bus. The Department of Public Works, Roads, and Transport joined the event, including MEC Thulasizwe Thomo, MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, and Mr. Jackie Macie. Together, they showed the provincial government’s strong support for improving and strengthening public transport systems in Mpumalanga.

The day started early in the morning before the sunrise at the Matsebula Terminus. By 04h30 Buscor staff, government officials and other members were already gathered, full of excitement for the day ahead. While enjoying some morning coffee and friendly conversations, everyone shared a goal to help improve and shape the future transport in Mpumalanga.
By 05h15 the group boarded one of the Semilux buses from Nelspruit to Hazyview. This journey was a symbol of Buscor’s dedication in connecting towns and communities across the province. Along the way conversation flowed easily about transport safety, innovation and the role public transport plays in building a more inclusive society.
The Semilux experience reminded everyone of the comfort and reliability that Buscor passengers enjoy, comfortable seating, efficient service, and professional drivers who put safety first.

By 07h00 the group switched from the semilux to the Buscor’s Electric Bus from the Hazyview Terminus back to Nelspruit. This part stood as a proud showcase of Buscor’s commitment to sustainability and clean energy.
This electric bus is not just another mode of transport but a symbol of innovation. It represents Buscor’s forward thinking approach to reducing carbon emissions, lowering fuel costs and protecting the environment for future generations. As the bus was going smoothly along the route through Masoyi, White River and Back to Nelspruit, the guest could not help but appreciate the quite efficiency and modern comfort of the electric mobility.

The journey continued to the Nelspruit workshop where guests were treated to a guide tour of Buscor’s operations hub. The workshop visit gave the MECs Thomo and Macie with the other guest a firsthand look at the incredible teamwork and technical precision that keeps the Buscor fleet running smoothly.
From the maintenance crews ensuring that every bus is road ready to safety inspectors guaranteeing passenger protection, the workshop is a true heartbeat of Buscor’s service excellent. The tour also highlighted the training and skills development that empower Buscor employees to uphold high standards of service and safety daily.
Inclusivity in Action: The Disabled Bus Demonstration

It can never be a complete tour without showcasing what Buscor cares for the disabled. The company created a special bus that ensures safe and comfort transport for people living with disabilities.
