On 04 February, Buscor came together for its Start of the Year Prayer, a moment of reflection, gratitude, and unity as the company stepped into 2026 with one shared intention: safety, protection, and an accident-free year ahead.
This annual gathering has become more than just a tradition; it is a reminder of who Buscor is and what it stands for.
Opening the Service in Prayer
The service was opened by Mandla Nkuna from the Malelane Workshop, who led the opening prayer. His prayer set the tone for the day, calling for protection over Buscor’s people, its operations, and every journey taken on the road.
It was a moment that brought everyone together: drivers, management, pastors, and staff all united by faith and purpose.
A Message of Gratitude and Reflection from the Managing Director

Managing Director Oupa Matsebula took the opportunity to sincerely thank all the pastors for their continuous prayers for Buscor. He acknowledged that the company has faced many challenges over the years but emphasized that Buscor’s ability to overcome them was not because they were special or possessed any kind of magic.
Instead, he shared that Buscor’s strength comes from daily prayers offered in the corridors, on the buses, and in the halls.
One of the most powerful moments of his message was the reflection on safety:
- 532 million kilometres travelled in 2026
- Zero fatal accidents
This achievement came despite heavy rains, damaged roads, and even a flooded bridge. Yet, through all these conditions, Buscor remained standing.
The MD reminded everyone that while Buscor prays every day, there can never be enough prayer and encouraged pastors and staff to continue praying without stopping.
Seeking the Kingdom First: The Word Shared

The pastor of the day, Rev. M. Tau, shared a message from Matthew 6:33, encouraging everyone to seek God first in all that they do.
He explained that the focus of this prayer was twofold:
- Thanking God for 2025, a year filled with challenges that Buscor managed to overcome
- Seeking divine guidance for 2026, trusting God to lead the company forward
As Buscor steps into 2026, prayers are offered for the Matsebula family, the Fakude family, the executives, management, and every department. The prayer was that God’s presence and peace would guide them in everything they do.
Prayers for Leadership, Unity and Protection

Rev. T. Modipane led a heartfelt prayer focused on leadership and unity, covering:
- Managing Director Oupa Matsebula
- Dr. Norah Fakude
- Pastors, drivers, and all Buscor employees
The prayer centered on peace, unity, love, and cooperation, asking for God’s protection over every department within Buscor.
A Prayer That Is Part of Who We Are

Dr. Norah Fakude shared that this start-of-year prayer is not a one-off event but a norm at Buscor. It is something the company does every year as a way of asking God to protect what they have been entrusted with.
She also took a moment to pay respects and remember those who are no longer with us, honoring them with love and gratitude:
- Leon, from the Workshop Department (Technician)
- Gogo Themba
- Make LaShongwe
Their memory remains part of the Buscor family.
Moving Forward Covered in Prayer
As Buscor moves forward into 2026, the message from the day was clear: faith, prayer, and unity remain at the heart of everything. With God’s protection over every journey, every department, and every person, Buscor continues to move safely together.
